Sister Abhaya Murder Case

Sister Abhaya, a nun of the St Pius convent at Kottayam who was murdered 16 years ago
Case No. RC 8(S)/93 (Sister Abhaya Case-1992). The CBI took over the case on March 29, 2003, and filed three closure reports, saying though it was a case of murder, the suspects could not be found. The High Court refused to accept the report and asked the probe agency to further investigate.
Father Thomas M Kottoor and Father Jose Puthrukkayil and Sister Sephy, were arrested by the CBI's Special Crime unit on Wednesday. The suspects were presented to court today. Sister Abey was seen crying... Angry mob were calling "CBI ki Jai"...
They have been remanded for 14 days(till Dec 2) for custodial interrogation. No mental or physical torture should be happen and medical assistance should be provided.
CBI says "We have evidence. Let's not talk about it now. We will do our best. Please allow us to investigate some more time. We have best of team . Don't write something which is wrong. We will inform the developments. We will complete the case as soon as possible. If we say something now accuse will try to cover up."
The CBI does not take up investigation of conventional crimes like murder, theft, robbery etc unless directed by the Supreme Court/High Courts or referred by State Governments. Public interest in the case was re-ignited in April last year after a newspaper reported that Abhaya's medical reports were tampered with at a chemical laboratory in state capital Thiruvananthapuram.
